What is die cutting in packaging?
Die cutting uses a custom-made steel rule die to cut and crease cardboard into precise shapes. It allows us to make packaging in virtually any shape or configuration rather than being limited to standard rectangular boxes.
What is a die cut box?
A die cut box is made using a die that cuts and creases the board in one pass. The result is a flat sheet that folds into the finished box. Features like self-locking bases, tuck lids, carry handles and display windows can all be built in.
What is a die and do I own it after paying the setup cost?
A die is the custom cutting tool we use to produce your box shape. You pay a one-off tooling cost to have it made. Once it exists, it is held here for all your future orders and you do not pay for it again.
What features can be built into a die cut box?
Carry handles, crash-lock or self-lock bases, tuck-over lids, tear strips, display windows, perforated opening panels and lock-in inserts. All of these are engineered into the die at the design stage so they function reliably at production speed.
Can die cut boxes be assembled without tape?
Yes. Most die cut designs are made to fold and lock together without tape, which saves time on the packing line and reduces materials cost.
Can die cut packaging be printed?
Yes. We print in Flexo up to 4 Pantone colours or Litho in full CMYK. The two can be combined depending on the finish required.
What is die cut packaging used for?
Retail packaging, ecommerce boxes, food packaging, point of sale displays, shelf ready shippers, subscription boxes and any application where a standard rectangular box will not do the job properly.

Yes. All our corrugated cardboard is 100% biodegradable and recyclable.

How long does it take to manufacture die cut boxes?
